At Elevated Readiness, we specialize in threat management solutions—a practical, combined approach to reducing harm in uncertain situations by improving awareness, decision-making, response, and recovery. We help you see what others don’t — so you’re ready for what’s next. Backgrounds in military combat service, emergency medical and public-safety response, law enforcement, and unarmed self-defense training allow us to combine the philosophies behind each into one layered, synergistic framework:
1. Recognize problems sooner (awareness and context.)
2. Reduce Exposure (planning, boundaries, avoidance, and de-escalation.)
3. Respond when forced to act (non-lethal defense aids/unarmed self-defense, and firearms training where lawfully appropriate.)
4. Stabilize the injured and manage the scene (trauma treatment fundamentals/CPR.)
5. Sustain & recover through disruption (disaster preparedness fundamentals for when expected resources are delayed or unavailable.)
Threats—human and environmental—can’t be fully eliminated, but what can be improved is how early we recognize risk, how well we avoid it, how effectively we respond when avoidance fails, and how we manage the aftermath. With class offerings in non-shooting - awareness/safety, shooting, emergency medical fundamentals, unarmed defense, and disaster preparedness, we provide students with skills to competently become aware of and address crisis as it approaches. As opposed to just reacting to it, after it’s arrived.
It’s confidence through capability, and when you stay ready, you don’t have to get ready.
I’ve spent a lifetime operating in high-stakes environments—military combat, emergency response, global travel, media production, and entrepreneurship. Through all of it, one truth has remained constant: uncertainty is inevitable, but being unprepared doesn’t have to be.
My early years bridged two worlds—suburban prep schools and the wild streets of 1980s Los Angeles—teaching me to read people, manage tension, and adapt quickly. I served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps with the 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment during Operation Desert Storm, navigating a tank war...in an unarmored Humvee. The experience cemented my belief that preparation and composure are everything.
After a medical retirement from the Army, I worked in film and music production, stunt safety diving, as a Civilian Volunteer public safety diver on the L.A. Sheriff’s Department Search and Recovery Dive Team, and as a volunteer L.A. County certified EMT. I’ve managed touring bands through post-Soviet Europe and survived a catastrophic accident in the back-country that required self-rescue survival for several hours until EMS was able to locate me.
Each of these experiences reinforced the same lesson: readiness is not about toughness—it starts with awareness, adaptability, and action. I’m not a toughguy; I’ve just learned that outcomes improve when you train to stay engaged with your environment, and I look to share this with others.
