NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home
NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home (PPOTH)

Most defensive encounters don't happen in your living room. This course prepares you for the dynamic, unpredictable environments you actually move through every day — parking lots, streets, public spaces. It picks up where home defense training leaves off and develops the skills for real-world application.
Topics and skills covered:
- Drawing from concealment effectively and safely
- Use of cover and concealment — knowing the difference and applying it
- Movement while drawing and engaging
- Point shooting and instinctive shooting techniques
- Low-light shooting
- Engaging multiple targets
- Off-hand shooting
Who this is for: Students who have completed a foundational handgun or home defense course and are ready to develop practical, scenario-based skills for carrying and responding outside the home.
Scheduling & Registration: Classes are booked through our USCCA instructor portal, where you can also view upcoming dates, pricing, and verified student reviews. The portal will open in a new window so you won't lose your place on this site.
